Data modeling is the act of exploring data-oriented structures. Like other modeling artifacts data models can be used for a variety of purposes, from high-level conceptual models to physical data models. The purpose of data modeling is to develop an accurate model, or graphical representation, of the client’s information needs and business processes. The data model acts as a framework for the development of the new or enhanced application.
More and more companies are now realizing that just having a schema in database is not sufficient for maintaining business applications that must change as business changes. Data models provide a central repository of information not just about the entities used in the application but the business rules behind that application.
At IT Champion, we have experienced modelers who have developed data models for applications that help run the business of multinational giants. Over the years we have developed best practices, standards and templates that help us deliver data models for complex applications at blazing fast speed. Erwin, Oracle designer and Power designer are our preferred tools for data modeling.
Case Study
Project – DB Architecture (Digital Media Content Management Company)
Environment – Linux, MYSQL, PHP, Erwin, MS AccessL
Client had Access database supporting web based digital media content management software. The database was not able to support large number of concurrent users. The database was also not flexible enough to implement new features. Our consultants did a strategy study and re architected the solution on MYSQL database. The new database design was done to support growing user base and to allow easy implementation of new features in the core application. Our consultants did conceptual, logical and physical modeling using data modeling best practices.
